Its such a strange word for Blackheart....To be accepted. In the twoleg world, no one would accept him, how could they.. he was the omen of ill fate. But here, Blackheart knew deep within his black heart, that he has been accepted by both Shadowclan....and Starclan. "I vow", Blackheart whispered to himself, "I vow to take care of all Shadowclan, as its new medicine cat!"

The small and lithe downy gray she-apprentice crept to face her night black mentor. The young cat had been waiting until Blackheart was ready to become her mentor. Now she could become Cloverpaw-the greatest medicene cat if all time. The cat scampered into the old den which she had valued all of her life. Cloverpaw let out a welcoming mew. She waited for the tom to respond to it. She drew a paw over her ear and sat waiting- her violet eyes glowing patiently.

Blackheart stared at the young she-cat with warm welcoming eyes as she crept up to face him. He could see in her eyes, readiness, and infinite patience, the two true virtues of a medicine cat. “Yes” he thought to himself, “She will make a great medicine cat one day, perhaps the greatest this clan has ever seen. Only Starclan knows”. He mewed a soft welcome in reply to his new apprentice and with a purr of amusement said, “Welcome cloverpaw, are you ready to begin your training?”
