The main advantage and difference of the young Swiss watch house Roger Dubuis from the very birth was considered avant-garde design and daring innovations in the design of both mechanisms and cases.

Excalibur — the key collection of Roger Dubuis — has been replenished with an interesting model called Excalibur Single Flying Tourbillon ("Single soaring Tourbillon"). The word "single" informs that this year Excalibur will not have a double tourbillon, so beloved by fans of the brand. "Soaring" is also for a reason: the carriage of this tourbillon makes a flight.
The exclusivity versus demand makes most Roger Dubuis watches hold their value quite well.
Recall that soaring are called tourbillons, whose carriage is attached to the platinum of the mechanism only on one side (usually from below), and there is no upper support in the form of a traditional bridge. But look: this tourbillon has really taken off, and the axis of its carriage rises above the skeletonized structure of the mechanism. To heighten the effect, the creators raised it to the maximum height. The name could also be supplemented with the word skeleton, but Roger Dubuis so rarely produces watches with dials that everyone has long been accustomed to skeletons.
The power of excalibur.
Of course, for the sake of a new design, the masters of the house had to radically modernize the architecture of the caliber. The new RD512SQ mechanism received an ultralight tourbillon carriage made of heavy-duty titanium and cobalt-chromium alloy. The details of the descent enclosed in it are made of a weightless silicon-based material. By reducing the weight of the tourbillon module, it was possible to minimize the energy consumption of the mechanism and increase its power reserve to 72 hours, which, for example, will make it possible, after removing the clock for the weekend, not to set the time again on Monday. In order to improve the tourbillon's overview, the creators abandoned the self-winding module, so the running spring is cocked manually here.
As always, the elaboration of the details of the RD512SQ deserves all praise. So it is no coincidence that for several years now, without exception, all Roger Dubuis mechanisms have been marked with a prestigious watch quality mark — the Geneva brand for excellent decor.
Eternal gold.
Roger Dubuis also supported the general trend for the invention of new materials. The 42mm body of the model is cast from the latest gold alloy EON Gold. The purely technological abbreviation EON successfully beats the Greek word eon — "epoch, eternity". That is, the creators guarantee that it will never lose the brightness of its shade, in this case, pink.
But the body of the model under the reference RDDBEX0889 is made of titanium with a dark gray diamond-like coating of cobalt and chromium alloy called CarTech Micro-Melt BioDur CCMTM, which also received almost eternal protection from scratches and dents. Since both materials are still quite rare (and also in accordance with the traditions of the house), the models are released in a limited series of 88 copies. And, by the way, the excellently finished buildings are also marked with the Geneva brand.
As always, special attention is paid to comfort. Therefore, the watch offers straps of new sizes — from 0 to 4, which will ensure a perfect fit to any wrist. Fortunately, the case is equipped with a proprietary Quick Release System (QRS) self-replacement system.
